CITY OF TAMPA: Temporary Lane Closures on W Cleveland Street and S Howard Avenue to begin August 8, 2020 for Utility Construction

City of Tampa issued the following announcement on Aug. 7

A portion of W Cleveland Street between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue and a portion of S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Saturday, August 8, 2020, for utility work.  A utility contractor will be installing communication conduit on the south side of W Cleveland Street between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue and on the west side of S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street.

One (1) westbound lane on W Cleveland Street between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue and the left turn lane on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will close at 9 am on August 8, 2020.

Two (2) westbound lanes of traffic on W Cleveland Street between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue and two (2) northbound lanes on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the work area will be closed during construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage

It is anticipated that all lanes on W Cleveland Street between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue and on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will be open by 4 pm on Friday, September 11, 2020, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Eastbound motorists and trucks can use W Kennedy Boulevard between S Boulevard and S Howard Avenue/S Armenia Avenue, in lieu of W Cleveland Street

Northbound motorists can use N Willow Avenue between W Swann Avenue and W Kennedy Boulevard in lieu of S Howard Avenue. Northbound trucks can use S Boulevard between W Platt Street and W Kennedy Boulevard, in lieu of S Howard Avenue.
