Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority issued the following announcement on September 18.

Plans for a new state-of-the-art Clearwater transit hub are gaining traction. Local leaders gathered in Clearwater to declare their support for PSTA’s new Clearwater Multimodal Transit Center, aimed at connecting riders to downtown, the beaches, and beyond.

More than 100 businesses, local governments, and representatives have sent letters of support and commitment dedicated to the new transit hub. It’s a necessary replacement for PSTA’s 40-year-old station located at Park Street, which has been functionally obsolete and in need of repairs for over a decade.

PSTA has requested a $25 million grant from the Biden Administration’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program to fund the much-needed transit center. Our goal is to begin construction in spring 2023 and have the facility completed by fall 2024.
